Crete was led to independence by Gregor Romanos, a nationalist leader with anti-democratic undertones. The establishment of a legislature is planned by the end of 2150.
Romanos immediately called for the organization of a national militia to defend Crete's sovereignty, and training is set to begin in May for an official armed forces.
